The City of Glendora
Nestled in the foothills of the majestic San Gabriel Mountains on the eastern side of Los Angeles County lies the city of Glendora. The City is conveniently located 23 miles from Downtown Los Angeles with easy accessibility to the 210 Freeway and Highway 57. Local transportation is provided by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA, Foothill Transit, and the Glendora Minibus, while the Ontario International Airport, 22 miles east, allows access to nationwide and international destinations. Glendora is also a proposed site for a Metro Gold Line station (estimated completion in 2014) providing light-rail service westward to Pasadena and Los Angeles and eastward to Ontario. As of 2011, Glendora has a population of 49,930.
The largest employer is the Glendora Unified School District, followed by Citrus Community College. Largest private employers include Ormco Corporation, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Home Depot. Major shopping centers include Glendora Marketplace, which features national tenants including Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, AMC Theatres, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, Sam’s Club, 24 Hour Fitness, Staples, Ulta, and Chipotle. Residents enjoy the lush parks, comprehensive community services, and the City’s low crime rates. All of Glendora’s public schools are “California Distinguished Schools.” The convenient location of Glendora allows for a variety of scenic and outdoor recreational activities, such as hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains or a weekend getaway in Palm Springs. The Glendora Country Club is a members-only country club with an 18-hole golf course.
Glendora’s diversified business community ranges from the downtown “Village,” where personalized service is provided by several owners operated retail stores, to corporate headquarters of major U.S. and international firms, including Rain Bird Sprinkler Manufacturing Company and the National Hot Rod Association.
Public Services/Parks and Recreation
Glendora has an extensive Parks and Recreation program that provides activities in many of the city’s public parks for the citizens of the community. One of the most popular of the Parks and Recreation programs is the Camp Cahuilla Summer Kids’ Day Camp (also known as “Dirt Camp”).
Glendora also owns a nine-hole golf course, Glen Oaks, offering a Driving Range, Instructional Services, Practice Area, and the 9-hole, Par 3 course itself.
Residences
Residences in Glendora range from early 20th-century bungalows to modest ranch style homes, to multi-story configurations, to grand mansions. Glendora’s most expensive neighborhoods contain many very large, secluded, estate homes with sweeping views of the San Gabriel Valley to Downtown Los Angeles. Morgan Ranch, Gordon Highlands, Bluebird Hill, Silent Ranch, Oak Tree Rancho, Hidden Springs, Oakhart Estates, and Easley Canyon Estates. Membership in the Glendora Country Club is by invitation only. The Club’s 18-hole golf course has been played by many professional golfers.
Transportation and Access
The city of Glendora is located in the San Gabriel Valley and encompasses approximately 19 square miles of land. It is bordered to the west by the city of Azusa, to the east by the city of San Dimas, to the south by the city of Covina, and to the north by the San Gabriel Mountains.
Regional access to the city is primarily from the Foothill (210) Freeway, which runs in an east-west direction approximately one and a half miles south of the subject property, and the Orange (57) Freeway, which runs in a north-south direction approximately four and a half miles south of the subject property. These freeways provide direct access to other major interstates serving the Southern California region, including the San Bernardino (10) Freeway to the south, the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway to the west, and the Chino Valley (71) Freeway to the southeast.

EDUCATION
Azusa Pacific University
Azusa Pacific University is a private, inter-denominational, evangelical Christian university located near Los Angeles in suburban Azusa, California, USA. It was founded in 1899, with classes opening on March 3, 1900, in Whittier, California. It began offering degrees in 1939. APU holds regional accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
While officially inter-denominational, the university has ties with several evangelical denominations. The university’s seminary, the Graduate School of Theology, holds to a Wesleyan, Arminian doctrinal theology. With over 5,000 students, APU’s undergraduate student body is the largest in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (although Indiana Wesleyan University has a larger total student body) and the second largest evangelical undergraduate student body in the United States, behind only Liberty University
Upon its achievement of university status in 1981, the college changed its name to Azusa Pacific University. During that decade, off-site educational regional centers throughout Southern California were instated and master’s degree programs were first approved.
During the 1990s, Azusa Pacific began offering not only undergraduate, but also graduate degrees, and during that decade the university’s first three doctoral programs were awarded. Student enrollment doubled, and graduate programs quadrupled throughout the decade.The university now offers 51 undergraduate majors, 30 master’s degrees, 14 certificates, 13 credentials, and eight doctoral programs to a total student population of nearly 10,000.
Citrus College
Citrus College is a community college located in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendora, California; the Citrus Community College District which supports the school includes the communities of Glendora, Azusa, Charter Oak, Claremont, Monrovia, and Duarte. The school is the oldest public community college in Los Angeles County, California; it was founded in 1915 by educator Floyd S. Hayden. Until 1961 the school was operated by the Citrus Union High School District. As of 2006, Citrus College enrolls over 12,000 students.
According to the Public Policy Institute of California, Citrus College had 632 students who transferred to universities during the 2005-2006 academic year, ranking seventh in the area.
Glendora Unified School District
Glendora has two public school districts: Glendora Unified and Charter Oak Unified School Districts. These systems are considered two of the best in the state and the country, consistently ranking in the top performing brackets. Each Glendora school in these two school district is designated as California Distinguished Schools.
